Hot Wheels - Top Gun 40th Anniversary - F-14 Tomcat & MiG-28 - SDCC 2026

Take to the skies with this special Hot Wheels Top Gun 40th Anniversary Set, created to celebrate 40 years of the original Top Gun film. This 2026 Mattel Creations release recreates one of the movie’s most memorable moments, with the F-14 Tomcat flying inverted above the enemy MiG-28.

The centrepiece is the legendary F-14 Tomcat, a supersonic twin-engine, two-seat fighter famous for its distinctive variable-sweep wings. Developed for the U.S. Navy, the F-14 became one of the most recognisable naval fighters ever built. In Top Gun, the enemy “MiG-28” was actually fictional, with modified Northrop F-5 aircraft used to portray it on screen. The Hot Wheels set recreates the encounter between the two aircraft, with movable wings on the F-14 reflecting the real Tomcat’s iconic swing-wing design.

Both aircraft feature detailed movie-inspired decoration and weathering and are mounted together on a dedicated display stand featuring a die-cast Top Gun logo plate. The premium soft-touch presentation box takes inspiration from Maverick’s flight helmet and includes additional references to the famous inverted-flight scene.

A standout display piece for Hot Wheels collectors, aviation enthusiasts and Top Gun fans, and a special release from the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con collection.
